As controller for American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS), Alma A. Hazboun is a steward of funds
that are donated to the organization for carrying out important life-transforming ministry. Committed to ensuring that funds are appropriately used to fulfill intended ministry projects, she says that she feels privileged to be part of an organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals across the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico.
“The humanitarian and religious aspects of ABHMS provide me with satisfaction and fulfillment,” she says.
While Hazboun’s financial-management experience has been mainly in the private sector, her service on a board of a nonprofit humanitarian organization inspired her to pursue a career in the nonprofit world.
“My experience gives me the ability to manage the finances of ABHMS and Judson Press as I would in the for-profit world, with the added controls of the nonprofit world,” she says.
Hazboun’s goals are to see ABHMS’ financial procedures become automated and its Finance department go paperless.
