Education & scholarships

American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) is committed to providing and supporting educational opportunities that enable and empower American Baptist students and ministerial leaders to grow both personally and professionally.

The American Baptist Financial Aid Program offers tuition scholarships to students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and seminary programs. This program is funded by investment income from endowments—donated by generous individuals, churches and organizations committed to educational opportunities—that have grown over decades.

Sixteen colleges and universities as well as 10 seminaries and theological schools across the United States and in Puerto Rico are related to American Baptist Churches USA.

American Baptist seminarians are encouraged to register with ABHMS to receive information about financial aid opportunities as well as invitations to professional development events such as Orientation to American Baptist Life.

To encourage and support continuing professional development, ABHMS provides “Cultivating NEW LIFE” grants for attending conferences, workshops and seminars focused on congregational transformation, discipleship, church administration, evangelism, personal renewal and spiritual formation. In addition, ABHMS awards grants—along with continuing education credit—for attendance at American Baptist Churches USA-sponsored conferences and workshops.

The 2017-2018 Scholarship Application request window is now closed. Completed applications are due to the Office of Financial Aid for Studies by May 31.
