Operation Planting Hope
Reimagining ways for American Baptists to serve as the hands and feet of Christ throughout the United States and Puerto Rico
In today’s changing times, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) has reimagined ways to touch marginalized individuals, families and communities with God’s love.
Continuing the tradition of White Cross Overland, Operation Planting Hope (OPH) offers fresh approaches for individuals and groups to serve ABHMS’ Community Outreach Ministries partners, the Rizpah’s Children network and many other missional entities. An innovative model, OPH extends outreach to a wide range of related partners focused on healing and transformation, while streamlining the connection among American Baptist churches and vulnerable communities.
OPH provides a multitude of ways to serve others, from providing a hot meal to youth in an after-school program and offering handmade winter hats, scarves and mittens to underserved children to filling backpacks with groceries to sustain a family over a school holiday and helping with filing and office work at a busy social justice agency.
OPH will support the underserved throughout the United States, from Alaska to Puerto Rico and California to New Jersey.
OPH offers multiple ways to volunteer and share gifts of support:
- Charitable gifts (select “ABHMS Operation Planting Hope” under Online Giving Opportunities);
- Donated goods (direct donation of goods to the ministry of your choice listed below);
- Short-term, project-based programs and
- Long-term service-oriented programs (i.e. feeding ministries, health care ministries).
