Ecclesiastical endorsement

Are you seeking ecclesiastical endorsement?

American Baptists may be qualified to apply for ecclesiastical endorsement. The requirements and criteria vary depending on the category of ecclesiastical endorsement sought. The following documents are intended to serve as a guide in the process.

Ecclesiastical endorsement: Phase 1 – the Preparation Stage

If you are interested in ecclesiastical endorsement, you should review the specific criteria and requirements for the category sought. This document provides you with the necessary information to prepare yourself to ultimately apply for ecclesiastical endorsement. Note that you must meet ALL of the specified criteria and requirements to move to the next stage. Timing of this stage can vary, and this stage is entirely in the applicant’s control.

Ecclesiastical endorsement: Phase 2 – the Application Stage

Once you have confirmed that you meet ALL of the specific criteria and requirements for your ecclesiastical endorsement, you will contact the American Baptist Chaplaincy & Pastoral Counseling Ministries (C&PCM) team to request an application. Once in the application stage, you are well on your way toward applying for your chosen ecclesiastical endorsement. Timing of this stage can vary, and this stage is mostly in the applicant’s control.

Ecclesiastical endorsement: Phase 3 – the Final Stage

Once all of the application documentation is received, we move into the final stage. This stage is primarily driven by the C&PCM team. In this stage, the applicant will participate in interviews, and his or her full application and all associated documentation will be reviewed by members of the American Baptist Endorsement Committee. Timing of this stage does vary, although it is prudent to allow 45-60 days to complete.
