Ginger McKnight-Chavers, Esq.

Ginger McKnight-Chavers serves as General Counsel for ABHMS. She is a seasoned nonprofit, arts and entertainment, and corporate transactional attorney. She practiced corporate law at large firms in New York City, and was house counsel for a large corporation in Morris Plains, NJ. She served as vice president of Legal Affairs at Black Entertainment Television before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, where she served as Director of Legal Services at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in New York, NY.

The Dallas, Texas, native is a graduate of Georgetown University and Harvard Law School, and was also a Kathryn Gurfein Writing Fellow at Sarah Lawrence College.

She is an active member of nonprofit boards, including Black Theatre United, The Writers League of Texas, The Roundabout Theatre Company’s Leadership Council, and the Executive Committee of the Black Arts Council at the Museum of Modern Art. 

In her role as General Counsel, McKnight-Chavers will be responsible for ensuring that ABHMS complies with laws and regulations while carrying out its business and operations. She will also serve on the Leadership Team.
