Hope for Tomorrow recognizes ABHMS’ commitment to education and community renewal

VALLEY FORGE, PA (09/24/2025)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) has received the Hope Partner Award from Hope for Tomorrow, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit serving Burmese and Chin refugee families.

Founded in 2017 by Executive Director Justin Thang, Hope for Tomorrow builds bridges between immigrant communities and their American neighbors through education, empowerment, and comprehensive community development. Since its founding, over 2,500 children have taken part in summer and after-school tutoring, life skills, and recreation programs, while more than 2,000 adults have improved their lives through English as a Second Language and citizenship classes. More than 300 graduates have successfully passed their U.S. citizenship test.

From 2020 to 2025, ABHMS allocated over $51,000 in grant funding to support and grow these programs. This investment has helped ensure refugee youth have opportunities to learn, develop, and succeed, while providing adults with vital tools for civic engagement and integration into American society.

In presenting the award, Thang praised ABHMS’ longstanding partnership and financial backing, highlighting that it has enabled programs that “offer refugee youth opportunities to learn and thrive, while equipping adults with tools to build new beginnings in the United States.” He added, “ABHMS exemplifies the spirit of faith in action by uplifting underserved communities.”

American Baptist Home Mission Societies partners with American Baptists to promote Christian faith, cultivate Christ-centered leaders and disciples, and bring healing and transformation to communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.

I'm Kristine Neil — a communications strategist who has spent 20+ years designing websites. I have an MBA and degrees in Communication and Political Science, and I think of web design as one tool in a much bigger toolbox. The real work is figuring out what you're trying to say, who needs to hear it, and what's getting in the way - the website is just where all of that comes to life. I write here about eCommerce, web strategy, and making the complex feel a little more human. I’m also the Founder & Creative Director of kristineneil.studio, where I take on larger organizational website re-design projects.
