Meeting needs. Restoring hope. Strengthening communities.

ABHMS supports a network of Christian Centers that serve communities across the United States and Puerto Rico. Through Community Outreach Ministries, these centers partner with local congregations and regional ministries to address the specific needs of their neighborhoods and help individuals overcome barriers that prevent them from becoming all that God intended.

Faith in action in local communities

Christian Centers are central to American Baptist home missions. On-site mission staff collaborate with churches, volunteers, and community partners to offer practical help and compassionate support.

Sometimes that ministry begins simply, with friendship, encouragement, or a listening ear. In many communities, it also includes services that address urgent needs and promote long-term stability.

Vital support received through Christian Centers may include:

  • Food assistance and community meals

  • Clothing and essential supplies

  • Housing support and shelter connections

  • Access to health care services

  • Job training and employment resources

  • Counseling and spiritual care

Each center adapts its ministries to the realities of the people and neighborhoods it serves.
