ABHMS announces retirement of Chief Development Officer Vincent Dent

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 08/29/2026)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) announces the retirement of Vincent Dent, Esq., who has served as the national nonprofit’s chief development officer for the past eight years. His last day with ABHMS is Aug. 31.

During his tenure, Dent was instrumental in strengthening ABHMS’ development office and in implementing strategies to support the organization’s fundraising efforts. He also played a key role in helping ABHMS secure grants and cultivate philanthropic support for ministries and initiatives that serve individuals, congregations, and communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.

“We are grateful for Vincent’s eight years of service to ABHMS and for his contributions to advancing our development work,” said ABHMS Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray. “We honor his service and wish him well as he begins this next chapter.”

ABHMS has engaged a search firm to identify its next chief development officer. In the interim, Monique Sadler-Taylor has been appointed interim director of development, ensuring continuity in the organization’s fundraising and donor engagement.

Sadler-Taylor, who has served as director of the annual fund and major gifts, will carry forward development initiatives begun during Dent’s tenure, including three fundraising campaigns underway. One is raising scholarship funds for undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students as ABHMS works to expand resources available to qualified applicants. Another supports long-term wildfire recovery in Southern California, particularly in Altadena and Pasadena, where families and congregations continue to rebuild more than a year after the devastating fires.

A third campaign addresses Puerto Rico’s current water crisis. Through One Great Hour of Sharing, ABHMS is collaborating with partners to expand access to fresh water for vulnerable populations and strengthen them against future disruptions.
