The Striving Congregations Cohort comprises twelve American Baptist churches from across the United States and Puerto Rico with a vision to more regularly center the wisdom, leadership, and perspectives of children in intergenerational spaces of worship and prayer. These are congregations that have an expressed desire to grow their communities of faith toward recognizing the belovedness and agency of children as disciples of Christ, and full members of the church body. Learnings for this cohort explore a range of topics: Program Evaluation, Change Management, What is Worship? - exploring the diversity of possibilities for intergenerational worship and prayer, Play and Playfulness/Wonder and Meaning Making, Accessibility, Safe Church Practices, Nurturing the Spiritual Gifts and Calling of Children, and more. The practices shared and developed in this cohort will contribute to resources and tools for the formation of our future cohorts and denomination.
