Equipping faith leaders to serve across cultures with wisdom, humility, and courage
The Intercultural Leadership Institute (ILI) prepares leaders to guide ministries and communities shaped by racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity. ILI supports leaders dedicated to building beloved communities across differences.
The future of the church in the United States and Puerto Rico increasingly relies on faith leaders who can minister across cultural, racial, and ethnic differences. The ILI, an ABHMS initiative, aims to prepare leaders for that responsibility through education, learning communities, and practical resources.
Originally launched as a cohort-based pilot program, ILI is evolving into a vibrant learning ecosystem that continues to grow. Through structured formation, shared learning, and hands-on training, the institute prepares leaders to work effectively in diverse ministry settings with a strong theological foundation and intercultural competence.
Who the institute serves
ILI supports leaders at various stages of ministry who are dedicated to strengthening intercultural engagement, including:
Pastors and ministry leaders serving in racially and ethnically diverse congregations
Young adult leaders pursuing formation within intercultural ministry settings
Experienced leaders seeking to strengthen their ability to provide intercultural training and consulting
People of faith committed to fostering more equitable and inclusive ministries
