“While salvation is free, ministry costs money.” ~Anonymous

As Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer-elect of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS), Clifton Strain ensures the organization’s financial capacity to meet its missionary and ministry aspirations.

“I love my work at ABHMS, which allows me to leverage my technical skills and continue to develop people while aligning perfectly with my lifelong commitment to community service and kingdom building,” he says.

A married father of three sons, Cliff has spent most of his career as an investment banker and recently served as CFO for a motorsports startup. He has served on several not-for-profit boards, including City Harvest as Vice Chairman and the American Baptist Extension Corporation as Chairman. At his home church, he chairs the Deacon Ministry and Website Committee. Cliff’s community service efforts include helping establish a Freedom School, building a food pantry, funding water wells for a girls’ school in Ghana, and organizing mission trips to Flint, Michigan, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas.
