‘Starting the Money Conversation’ to be held in Spanish on Sept. 9 and 16

VALLEY FORGE, PA (8/5/21)—The Center for Continuous Learning will hold the free Spanish-language “Starting the Money Conversation” virtual financial literacy program 1-2:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 9 and 16. The program is co-sponsored by American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

“After hosting a similar event in May, we realized that we are uniquely positioned to highlight that, in addition to being free and accessible to all, these resources have been translated into other languages, including Spanish,” says Jennifer Sanborn, director of ABHMS’ In Support of Excellence program. “We hope this training, offered entirely in Spanish, will reach new ministry partners with vital tools for financial well-being.”

Adds Abigail Medina-Betancourt, ABHMS Intercultural Ministries specialist: “We are grateful for this program presented in Spanish. It allows these valuable tools to reach a wider audience, especially immigrants who are not bilingual in the United States and the communities of Puerto Rico.”

In this two-session training, your financial toolkit will be expanded with materials designed around four common money issues:

  • resolving debt,
  • getting bills in order,
  • understanding and using credit, and
  • saving for goals.

The resources are for your personal use or for use in your ministry setting.

Get the money conversation started in your home and church through this innovative faith-and-finance partnership.
