Clarence White Jr. dies; was a retired executive director of Valley Christian Centers

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 12/13/19)—Clarence White Jr., 70, died Dec. 3 in Glendale, Ariz. He was a retired executive director of Valley Christian Centers, Phoenix, Ariz., an urban ministry that had been an American Baptist Home Mission Societies Neighborhood Action Program Christian center.

He was the husband of Dr. Darlene White.

In addition to serving Valley Christian Centers, he had held a number of professional positions over the years in the greater Phoenix area, including government procurement.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1949, in Randolph, Ariz.

He was a member of numerous boards, commissions, task forces and committees in Arizona as well as national religious, political and civic organizations.

Survivors: Wife; daughters, Cassaundra White, Calicia White, Davida Sharpe-Haygood and Dr. Darnetta Sharpe; son, Christopher White; and sisters, Mable Rushing and Francine Sharp.

Services: Wake, 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13; visitation at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. All will be held at Fountain of Life House of Worship, 8838 S. 2nd Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85041.
