ABHMS to offer Spanish workshop series featuring Holy Week sermon ideas

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 2/10/21)—As part of CECALI XXI, American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ (ABHMS) Latino Ministries will offer “De la crucifixión de Jesús a la resurrección de Cristo” (“From the Crucifixion of Jesus to the Resurrection of Christ”), a series of four online workshops offering sermon ideas in the Spanish language. Participants will receive a certificate from ABHMS and Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies.

Workshops will be offered 4-5 p.m. Eastern Time on Feb. 27 and March 6, 13 and 20.

Pastors and leaders are invited to participate in this event to receive fresh ideas for Holy Week sermons by Dr. Samuel Pagán, dean for Hispanic Programs, Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies. One of the most respectable presenters on the topic, Pagán has led numerous trips to Jerusalem.

“In Latino Ministries, we consider it important to provide tools to offer hope to our pastors and leaders in this uncertain time,” says the Rev. Salvador Orellana, director of ABHMS’ Intercultural Ministries and Latino Ministries. “There is so much hope in the resurrection of Christ, and this is an excellent opportunity to tell people that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We are going to overcome this tumultuous time.”

The suggested offering to participate is $20 per person. Grants are available for Baptist pastors and leaders.
