American Baptists share reasons for marching in D.C.

Editor’s note: The American Baptists who attended this march did not do so as representatives of American Baptist Churches USA.

American Baptists were among the estimated half million individuals of all ages, genders, races and ethnicities who participated Jan. 21 in the 2017 Women’s March on Washington, D.C. Many marchers carried handcrafted signs to bring attention to such causes as climate change; the importance of facts; access to health care; and justice for marginalized populations, including immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, women, and people with disabilities.

A sampling of American Baptists share the reasons that they participated in the historic event.
