‘MBA Quick Book for Ministers’ introduces leaders to ‘Pastoral MBA Competencies’

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 11/15/19)—In a cultural context where the church is struggling to survive amid other competing organizations and commitments, pastoral leaders need a new leadership paradigm that equips ministers to serve as chief executives for making disciples for Christ.

Father-and-son coauthors, Vincent Howell, D.Min., and Vincent Howell Jr., MBA, offer this “quick book”-styled resource, designed to introduce ministers to “Pastoral MBA Competencies”—the practical knowledge of leadership and management skills that will benefit those serving today’s congregations and other ministry settings. Highlighting topics that are addressed in a master’s level program in business administration, this accessible resource also provides wisdom from clergy who have already completed the MBA.

Chapters include:

  • Decision Analysis;
  • Human Resource Management;
  • Finance;
  • Operations Management;
  • Information Technology;
  • Project Management; and
  • Strategic Planning.

This practical guide provides information on institutions that offer dual D.Min./MBA degrees. It equips ministers with a unique resource that connects biblical and theological learning with MBA theory and practice to enhance leadership and management skills needed in today’s culture.
