Judson Press celebrates 50th anniversary of treasured worship resource with new edition
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/19/18)—Judson Press first published the classic “A Manual of Worship” by John Skoglund in 1968, and in honor of the 50th anniversary, Judson presents a new edition, “The New Manual of Worship” by Nancy E. Hall, M.Div., D.Min.
This revised edition seeks to provide today’s ministry leaders with diverse materials for planning worship services of all kinds, encouraging them always to adapt the resources to the particular context, needs and lifestyles of their own congregations.
“The New Manual of Worship” features numerous updates and revisions, as well as 20 new services, which commemorate special days, seasons, or themes, significant ceremonial events in church life, and the day-to-day occasions of joys and sorrows in people’s lives. Featured in this edition are specific recommendations for themed or occasional worship music, from traditional hymns to contemporary praise songs, and a new section of practical advice for planning an integrated and inspired worship service.
Perfect for new and seasoned ministers, worship leaders and seminarians, this comprehensive and practical guide is adaptable for churches in various traditions and with various worship styles. As a bonus, it features information about additional online resources.
“It’s a great resource for when you need a little help planning a special worship service,” proclaims one clergy member who has used the manual. “It is just the right size to carry around with you.”
Says another: It’s a “wonderful guidance with enough choices of Scripture that it is perfect for planning various services.”
