ABHMS to hold free Spanish-language virtual workshop about safe food storage
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/15/20)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ (ABHMS) “Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico” initiative will hold the free, virtual Spanish-language workshop “Estrategias para almacenamiento seguro de alimentos” (“Strategies for Safe Food Storage”) from 10:30 a.m. to noon Eastern Time on Oct. 23. Presenter is Alana Lleras, Corporación Milagros del Amor board member.
Working in association with Iglesias Bautistas de Puerto Rico, ABHMS has established 11 disaster-response centers in strategic parts of the island with the aim of attaining resiliency for “Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico.” ABHMS is committed to supporting the effectiveness of these 11 centers by providing tools and continuous training.
While the workshop is intended for the disaster-response centers in Puerto Rico, it is open to anyone who wants to learn about the topic.
“Our planet is changing, and global warming will continue to affect us,” says Abigaíl Medina Betancourt, ABHMS’ Puerto Rico volunteer coordinator. “It is necessary to create resiliency. Rebuilding Puerto Rico goes beyond repairing houses; it is also necessary to offer tools to be prepared for future natural events.”
While the event is free, registration is required at https://ministrelife.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJApceCgpjgsE9Fymd9HQJJYVFN-FQaKEezS.
