ABHMS Neighborhood Action Program Christian center receives honor
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/26/17)—Milwaukee Christian Center (MCC), an American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) Neighborhood Action Program (NAP) Christian center in Wisconsin, was recently honored with the People’s Choice Award at the 2017 Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation (MANDI) gala.
“We are proud and supportive of the work of ministry partners like the Milwaukee Christian Center,” says the Rev. Dr. Marilyn P. Turner-Triplett, ABHMS director, Rizpah’s Children. “The truth of their mission—that MCC believes all people deserve to be treated with compassion and dignity—is evident in their presence with the community they serve.”
Now in its 95th year, MCC is a multi-faceted social services and neighborhood development agency that includes an emergency food pantry, neighborhood improvement project, community empowerment, youth programs and senior support.
The MANDI awards recognize individuals, organizations and projects that are improving conditions in Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods.
Finalists are selected from public nominations by a 40-member, independent, cross-sector volunteer committee. MCC was among 15 finalists. The People’s Choice Award is given to finalists that receive the most votes from the public.
