ABHMS lifts up resources to promote peace, justice, unity
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 1/19/21)—In light of the turmoil that recently took place at our nation’s capitol, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) lifts up resources intended to promote peace, justice and unity.
These include a special edition of The Christian Citizens’ Justice. Mercy. Faith. podcast, developed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and sponsorship of and participation in Sojourners’ virtual ecumenical Christian prayer vigil today, Tuesday, Jan. 19, the day before the presidential inauguration.
The Justice. Mercy. Faith. podcast features ABHMS staff members reflecting upon quotations by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Featured staff members include Dr. Jeffrey Haggray, ABHMS executive director; Dr. Jeffrey A. Johnson, national coordinator, ABHMS’ Evangelism & Church Planting; and the Rev. Dr. Marilyn P. Turner-Triplett, director of ABHMS’ Healing & Transforming Communities.
The podcast can be found at christiancitizen.us/podcast or by searching for the Justice. Mercy. Faith. podcast on Apple Music, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.
As part of the prayer vigil, ABHMS’ Haggray will be among other faith leaders offering one-minute prayers from 7 to 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
Live-streamed across the country, the prayer vigil is one piece in a broader coordinated effort called #PeaceWithJustice, which seeks to counter threats and fears of violence both at the nation’s capitol and at capitols across the country from Sunday, Jan. 17, through Wednesday, Jan. 20.
