ABHMS hires new director of Information Technology
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/29/21)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) is pleased to announce that Saeed Richardson has been hired as director of Information Technology (IT).
“We are thrilled that Saeed has joined ABHMS’ Team,” says ABHMS Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray. “In addition to being a highly skilled professional in Technology Management, he comes with many passions and strengths in the Christian ministry that will be critical to our goal to impact the United States and Puerto Rico. We welcome Saeed and his family to King of Prussia enthusiasm.”
With more than 20 years of managing and supporting IT systems and infrastructures—from large scale multi-facility academic medical centers to nonprofit, grassroots organizations—Richardson is well-suited to his new role.
“I am excited and blessed to serve a place in which all aspects of my ministerial calling are observed and do not seem strange to the colleagues with whom I work,” he says. “I am a renaissance man of sorts: I’m an ordained clergyperson, pastor of 22 years, and have been a correctional facility chaplain; I’m a community organizer and policy advocate, and have worked as a lobbyist, fighting for police reform, racism and opportunities for returning citizens; and I am an Information Technology junkie and software developer. …And I now serve at a place where all those aspects not only exist through the organizational call and mission, but where I, as clergy, organizer and geek, can serve my Christian call in a full-time capacity.”
Richardson was most recently Programs and Operations officer for the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, for which he managed an annual inventory of more than 40 programs, projects and initiatives within the organization’s portfolio, in addition to the technical, digital resources and infrastructure to support that work.
In 2013, he transitioned from the academic medical world to the nonprofit world, serving organizations focused on justice, policy, advocacy and community organizing.
“I look forward to supporting the technological infrastructure of ABHMS and expanding our live-streaming and hybrid video and audio production capabilities. I am also excited about launching a web and mobile application development arm for the organization,” he says.
Richardson earned a Master of Arts in Social Service Administration and Master of Divinity, both at the University of Chicago.
