ABHMS’ Discipleship Summit will take place Oct. 26 at Center for Continuous Learning
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/7/21)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ Center for Continuous Learning will host the Discipleship Summit 2021 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Aidsand F. Wright-Riggins III Learning Center at the Leadership and Mission Building, King of Prussia, Pa.
The event will feature author and pastor Michael Adam Beck, a leading voice in teaching churches a model for thriving in the midst of overwhelming cultural change. Despite stories of loss and decline, many congregations are countering the negative trends and finding a way forward.
Beck’s blended ecology approach honors the steadfast saints who fill many of our pews today, while at the same time offering a new vision for “church” found more relevant by those we hope to reach in our surrounding communities.
The morning session will focus on principles and best practices, with time for questions and answers, while the afternoon will be interactive and feature breakout discussions. Learn from Beck’s work and then partner with other learners seeking to experiment with the creation of new discipleship pathways.
Beck will introduce:
- Principles and practices to transform discipleship ministry;
- Real-life applications of disciple-making in your community; and
- New models for faith formation in your context.
Beck is director of the Fresh Expressions House of Studies at United Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Jill, are co-pastors of two small traditional congregations that are also part of a network of 13 fresh expressions that gather in tattoo parlors, dog parks, salons, running tracks, community centers, burrito joints and digital spaces.
Cost is $49. Lunch will be provided. Social distancing and face masks are required for the safety of all attendees.
