ABHMS encourages attendance at BPFNA conference in Colombia
VALLEY FORGE, PA (3/4/19)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) encourages American Baptists to attend BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz’s 2019 Global Baptist Peace Conference July 15-20 in Cali, Colombia.
“As a loyal supporter and partner of BPFNA, ABHMS is pleased to help raise awareness of this important event,” says ABHMS Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray. “We are expecting several members of our staff to attend.”
The event will build on the important work of Baptists engaged in peacemaking processes, equipping those engaged in ecumenical and interfaith peacebuilding around the world. Following the “Peace in Our Land: Toward a World Without Violence” theme, the conference will recognize the successes and setbacks of the Colombian Peace Accord process.
Past global conferences have sparked a considerable amount of grassroots peace work, strengthened ecumenical and interfaith peacebuilding on a global level, and led to the creation of several regional peace networks.
The largest network of Baptist peacemakers in the world, BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz supports the peacemaking ministries of Baptist churches in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico. In addition, the organization connects with peacemakers from other traditions, faith-based and secular, to collaborate toward a more just and peaceful world.
