As executive director of Kodiak (Alaska) Baptist Mission (KBM), Johnny Walker reinvigorated and expanded the organization’s equestrian program for children. He served the equestrian program—known as Heritage Farms—for three summers before being asked to serve as KBM’s interim executive director in 2015 and later accepting the position permanently. Before that, he was an assistant to the chaplain at Southern Regional Jail, Beaver, W.Va. Walker was baptized in 1993.

KBM was established in 1893. In addition to Heritage Farms, KBM’s other programs include summer day camp; Sonshine Preschool; after-school program; food bank; and pastoral retreat center.

Walker hails from West Virginia, where he was middle-weight state wrestling champion in 1979 and married his high school sweetheart, Robin, in 1982. Robin is a full-time volunteer with KBM’s various children’s programs.
